#99 Michael Maples

February 27, 2025 by ARCA STAFF

Michael Maples is no stranger to motorsports. He has primarily raced IMCA modifieds since 2019, and he previously participated in asphalt racing with late models in California before moving to Oklahoma. While attending the ARCA races at Kansas in 2023, Maples met Andy Hillenburg and knew the fit was right to make his ARCA dream a reality. After contesting the full season in 2024, Maples will launch his own ARCA team in 2025..

What Are Realistic Expectations for the 2025 ARCA Regulars?

The goal in 2025 for Michael Maples is simple: keep growing as a driver and develop his team into a weekly contender more and more each race. The second-year driver finished eighth in the point standings during his rookie season in 2024. Any improvement should be the end goal for the 61-year-old. The Sooner driver is still searching for his first career top 10, and perhaps scoring multiple throughout 2025 is a possibility, especially at races with smaller fields.

However, unlike most of his competitors, Maples will balance team ownership in 2025 for the first time, owning two entries throughout the season. Watching the team grow, while also developing his racing skills, should be another primary focus for 2025. The team scored a top 10 at Daytona, in its No. 67 with Ryan Roulette behind the wheel. Maples himself was in the lead draft before the early wreck put him 31st, so things are looking positive after the season opener for Maples Motorsports.

The ARCA Menards Series may not garner the same attention as NASCAR's top-three national touring divisions, but that doesn't mean it lacks storylines.

One such story that has surfaced this offseason is that of Michael Maples' new team, Michael Maples Motorsports, which is set to debut in the series' season-opening race at Daytona on Feb. 15.

While Maples will pilot the team's full-time entry, it's a good friend of his who will be handed the reins to the organization's second car.

Enter Ryan Roulette, an Air Force pilot and part-time ARCA driver with 14 ARCA Menards Series starts under his belt. The announcement that Roulette would join the team came on Tuesday.

Michael Maples Running Full-Time ARCA, ARCA East in 2024

Michael Maples will run full time in both the ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series East for Fast Track Racing, he told Frontstretch.

Maples will drive the No. 99 and Mike Sroufe will serve as his crew chief. Sroufe spent the 2023 season atop the pit box for Jon Garrett, who will contest a part-time slate in 2024.

“I’ve been racing dirt cars the past few years,” Maples told Frontstretch about his racing background. “In Oklahoma and Texas we only primarily have dirt tracks. There’s one asphalt track in Houston. It’s a change. I lived in California in 1992. In ’93 I started racing. I raced asphalt late model cars at Madera Speedway. I lived in California then moved back to Oklahoma and I started racing asphalt in Oklahoma. Then the tracks were shutting down, my son was getting older and I decided I needed to spend time coaching a being a dad.
